Boston Celtics Delonte West chats w/ ChristieOhh!

Boston Celtics Guard Delonte West had a full weekend of fun with his charity. I had a chance to catch up with him at Mary and Daniel Loughran Community Center in Washington, DC where he hosted a free basketball clinic for children. As the kids came in they received a T-shirt from the clinic and Delonte put them right to work. I observed them doing drills, taking shots and even doing line touches. Delonte was very organized and the kids smiles were priceless. He not only taught the kids some first hand NBA work out tips but he discussed real life issues and work ethic.
I only had one question for Delonte, “why do you care?”
Delonte’s response: “I care because I came from the inner city and have dealt with issues such as depression. I know what it’s like not to have and I want them to come up with a better way. I want to be the person to step up to give the kids not only a lesson in basketball but a lesson in life. Teach them not only how to become a better basketball player but a best person. This is really what this week is about helping out kids with special needs because I want them to know that no matter what you face you can make it.”

Urban Book of the Year Winner and Rock Star Author Miss KP was an unscheduled interview and a most pleasant surprise! Our introduction came about at “Delonte West Charity Weekend” event. I came fully loaded with questions to interview Delonte; when another family member had advised me of Miss KP and the award she won. I have seen FB and Twitter going crazy with inserts and quotes but I hadn’t tapped into “The Dirty Divorce Series 1-3″ for myself.
