Couture Treasures started off making custom items, jackets and furs. The line got their shot at the Art of Luxury Gifting Suite for BET’s 2011 Hip Hop Awards. Couture Treasures gave away 100 pieces which consisted of 87 custom and 13 logo pieces. Every since then it’s been on for the 21 year old Harlem gal!

ChristieOhh: How old were you when you first started styling?

Couture Shaun: I honestly started to style around 16 years old. Mainly I styled for family, friends and small businesses. I had the opportunity to style for fashion shows at Abyssinian Center in New York and continue to work with them.

ChristieOhh: What’s your favorite look?

Couture Shaun: I really, really, really like the Bohemian chic look. Wavy hair, long maxi skirts…you can never go too far because it’s very free spirit and you just pick what your vibe is.

ChristieOhh: What would be a dream come true for you?

Couture Shaun: To be able to see my business further and get a chance to create, inspire and expand. To see myself become successful and create things in Harlem that will help the community and inspire.

ChristieOhh: What designers/stylist has inspired you?

Couture Shaun: I am very inspired by  June Ambrose, Kanye West, and Gwen Stefani because they are very outgoing with fashion. Their fashion sense is so eclectic! Neon trends, simple and chic whatever they feel it always comes together perfectly. They embody fashion from every eye.

ChristieOhh: What are you looking to accomplish in the fashion industry?

Couture Shaun: I want to be the first conscious street wears line. When people think of street wear it’s usually graphic tee shirts with depicting comments or hoodies. There are not enough positive messages or street wear being seen as something classy or elegant. If people are walking around with a shirt and a message it should be something greater.
