Fitness talk and more with Bodies by Roc

ChristieOhh: How did you get started in personal training and fitness?

Roc: I got started years ago. I’ve always loved working out and taking care of myself. About 9-10 years ago I got certified. I noticed I made a lot of money for American Family Fitness as a trainer and went on my own. I started training all walks of life. Kids, athletes, elderly people; fitness is my passion. It’s been a blessing and its growing like crazy.

ChristieOhh: The summer is almost over and winter is near! What are some tips to stay sexy and in shape during the winter months?

Roc: Whether in gym or home; everyone should do some sort of circuit, in addition to your normal workout or cardio. Normally, people use the winter months to get ready for the summer months. However, people do lose focus during Thanksgiving and Christmas with family feast. You can look good after the holidays during a circuit. You have to motivate yourself to go to the gym and workout.

ChristieOhh: What can someone do to lose weigh if they are afraid of the gym?

Roc: I meet people like that every day. At the end of the day you have to start somewhere. Whether you’re walking the track outside or in the comfort of home you have to do it. You have to find some start point. Regardless, I encourage that person to start and build your confidence at home so you don’t mind going to the gym.

ChristieOhh: Is it a myth to say, “you can eat what you want as long as you workout?”

Roc: It’s definitely a myth! (lol) You cannot out work a bad diet. You have to balance the scale. Your good eating has to overpower your bad eating. Especially, if you want to see a change in your body, you have to eat properly. You are what you eat and you have to eat good if you want results.

I push my clients in the gym, we go hard. But if you go home and eat bad you just killed the work out. You have to have the balance. Don’t get me wrong you will see results but you will not be consistent or lose they way you should.

ChristieOhh: New Year’s resolutions in reference to working out are huge. Is it an Ohh yes or Ohh no?

Roc: Ohh no! If you have in your mind you want to change your body, start now. Why wait till the New Year. Out of everybody that starts the New Year resolution I can count on one hand those that stay committed. No better time than now to workout. There’s so many people that ride pass that gym everyday that say I’m going to stop. But to those that do stop they have taken the first step and you want to start now to get healthy and don’t want to get old before you get old. I see people investing in real estate, designer clothes and other materials things but not in their body. Your health is the most important investment you can make. Invest in your health!
