ChristieOhh: How do you like doing the show?

Andrea: I love it! I absolutely love it! It’s nothing new and something new at the same time. It’s not new to me because of red carpets, being in lime light with my ex husband. But it is new to me now because things are really focused on me. It’s a catch 22 in a type of way; I’ve been here before but not in this caliber.

I’m happy and blessed! This is AK the remix; I get to do it a second time!

ChristieOhh: How are things going for you?

Andrea: Everything is going great! I’m between Chicago, LA and Atlanta all of the time. I love what I do so much. My dance studio is in Atlanta! I love Atlanta; it’s a big city but still has the comfort of the south, you can raise your kids and still work. I love my family in LA too!

ChristieOhh: What has been your greatest accomplishment so far?

Andrea: I would first say my children they are the reason I do everything. They keep me grounded. They’re that level of realness. They check me when I need it too. Second to that creating my own dance companies: AKDT Andrea Kelly Dance Theater and LPKC Le Pink Kitty Cabaret

It feels good to build and be able to display my talents. And not be tagged as R. Kelly’s wife or his back up dancer. I was his choreographer and principal dancer at the time. It’s a blessing to be where I am right now! I am very thankful!

ChristieOhh: What do you recommend for women who are putting everything before their selves and talents?

Andrea: You really have to at all cost bet on yourselves. Bet on you and you will never go wrong. We as women have it so wrong; we give to everybody else but not ourselves. If you are running on E give to yourself first. If you have something to give, to fulfill you, give to that you have to feel whole to give. If your thing is art, baking, singing, community service; do it because you will find yourselves losing who you are and what you love to do.

We as women have to balance life because a bottom less cup that almost empty can give nothing but once it’s full you will have something to give!
